Avril said that the song is about "someone you love and you have to say goodbye, and all those little things you miss about him." The music video deals with three parallel themes: the first is about a man who has to go to war leaving his wife pregnant, the second topic treated is a newlywed couple who are kissing in a park, but are separated by the mother of the bride, and the third and last topic is an old man who misses his deceased wife.
